THE 'BIG FOUR' IN AMERICAIn May 1934, Charles Ludwig imported the boxer stud force, Sieger "Sigurd von Dom", who then became the property of Barmere kennels which campaigned him all over America. Sigurd lived to the grand old age of 12, a proof of boxer hardiness. In 1936, the Mazelaine kennels of John P Wagner, brought "Dorian von Marienhof" to America. His arrival gave the breed a tremendous impetus. He was campaigned considerably and piled up a very impressive list of Best in Show wins. Dorian was the first Boxer to win the Working Group at the famous Westminster Show in 1937. In 1937, the Tulgey Wood kennels of Erwin O. Freund imported the fawn, "Lustig von Dom". Lustig was widely used in Germany and sired a majority of the top dogs who followed him to America during the next several years. Lustig sired 24 American-bred Champions and 17 imported dogs who gained their titles in America. In 1939, just before the War, John P Wagner of the Mazelaine kennels imported "Utz von Dom". He was a great show dog as well as sire. He was the second Boxer to win the Working Group at Westminster (Dorian was the first). Utz's greatest claim to fame is through his son, Ch "Warlord of Mazelaine". Born in Oct 1942, this fawn won the Working Group for three years running at the Westminster Show (1945 - 1947) and in addition in 1947, was the first Boxer to win Best in Show at Westminster.
